Hello from NZ

Hi all. I have only a month left. Days pass very quickly!

I haven't touched upon my teacher in college. She is humorous and her class is really fun because she often cracks some jokes in class. She's also a wonderful consultant for students.

In New Zealand, people greet " how are you?" when they meet first time in a day, and there're lots of ways to respond to this. For example, " Good, thank you.", "The weather is bad." and so on.

I thought something was wrong because my teacher at primary school back in Japan taught us to reply when greeted with an expression " I'm fine, and you?". I meant it depends each day or his or her feelings. My host mother told me greetings are social rituals, so Kiwis do this with anyone, not just friends but also bus drivers and staffs in stores.

To change the subject, on pavements, there are mostly no people in New Zealand. In the morning, students use buses and the student who uses bicycle is a little bit because traffic is dangerous for cycling here.

Well, I want to make every day count, so I try to go to as many good place as possible on the remaining weekends!

Take it easy, guys.(Ayako)

PS My dinner for tonight. See the size.
It's as big as a Kleenex box!!
