Fujii matches shogi record with 28th win
OSAKA (Jiji Press) — Sota Fujii, the youngest professional shogi player, on Wednesday recorded the 28th straight win since his debut, matching the longest winning streak in the history of the traditional Japanese board game.
The 14-year-old shogi sensation, who holds the rank of fourth dan, beat sixth-dan Shingo Sawada, 25, in 99 moves, in the first qualifying round for the 67th Osho title in the city of Osaka.

“move”を取り上げたいと思います。「動く」や「引っ越す」といった意味でよく知られるこの単語ですが、今回は少し違います。『ウィズダム英和辞典』(第３版、三省堂)を引いたところ、「〖チェス〗駒を動かすこと[順番]；駒の動かし方、手」とありました。チェスという言葉が添えられていましたが、将棋は似た種の盤面遊戯なので適用することができるのかなと思います。ちなみに、日本語には「先手を打つ」という囲碁で先番をにぎることからことに由来する表現があります。この慣用句を英語では“move”を使って“make the first move”と表現することができます。(Blue Sky)
