Discover beauty, history of Ryugukutsu caves

MINAMI-IZU, Shizuoka — Among the many scenic spots along the coast in the southern part of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture, the so-called “artistic landform” of Ryugukutsu stands out. I had long wanted to visit this sea cave in the Toji district of Shimoda.

中略

Rocks eroded by waves as well as large, jagged rocks may have been produced by the volcanoes. The landscape impressed upon me the long history of the peninsula.

(Cayu)
