気になった語は “slot” / slɒt / です。日本語でも耳にする「スロット」ですが, 『リーダーズ英和中辞典』(研究社)で改めて調べると, 「<口>テレビ番組などの時間枠」とありました。組織や系列などにおける「地位」を指すことに由来しているようです。
The Free Dictionary.comには “an assigned place in a sequence or schedule” と定義され, “a new time slot for a TV program” と用例が挙げられていました。
