Uber eyes 2020 ‘flying car’ launch in Dubai, Dallas
Uber has grown into the world’s largest venture-backed startup, with a valuation estimated at some $68 billion despite ongoing obstacles with regulators and taxi operators.
In addition to ride-sharing in some 80 countries, Uber is also testing self-driving cars in three U.S. metro areas.
Uber’s growth so far has not been dented by a series of embarrassing disclosures about a culture of sexism, cut-throat workplace tactics and covert use of law enforcement-evading software.

今回はcut-throatを調べました。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版，大修館）で調べたところ、名詞で「人殺し，邪悪な人」、形容詞で「殺人の，残酷な;激しい，きびしい」と載っておりました。Oxford Dictionary of English(Second Edition Reserved, Oxford University Press)によると、 形容詞として"(of a competitive situation or activity) fierce and intense; involving the use of ruthless measure"と "denoting a form of whist (or other card game normally for four) played by three players"の二つが定義されておりました。ちなみにwhistは2人1組計4人で行うトランプゲームです。
文中では「過酷な」などの意味合いで使用されていると思います。（Gomez）
