Child suicides hover around 300 or so a year for past decade
The total number of suicides in Japan may be decreasing, but for children, the figure is hovering around the same level.
In 2016, 320 students in elementary, junior high or high schools killed themselves, according to National Police Agency (NPA) statistics.
One of the big problems in Japan is that child suicides are not investigated properly to see how the deceased were acting before they killed themselves, such as episodes of self-harm. There are therefore insufficient preventative measures in place.
中略
Family issues, including discords with parents, followed at 23.4 percent, and health issues, such as depression, clocked in at 19.7 percent. Bullying accounted for only 1.9 percent, or six cases. In some cases, two or more causes led to one suicide.

LDOCEには “disagreement or arguing between people” や “an unpleasant sound made by a group of musical notes that do not go together well” と定義されています。
