I'm clothing-confused.
まだ４月なのに夏日が続いたり、冬物の出番は今度こそなくなったと思ったら、急に寒くなったりなどと天候が不順な様は日本だけの現象ではないようです。本日のNew York Todayはそれを erratic weather と呼んでいます。
When Will It Be Consistently Warm?
Good morning on this wishy-washy Wednesday.
The erratic weather of the past few days has left us clothing-confused.
Just when it seemed as though it was time for short sleeves and linen, we’re back to commuting in coats and fleece.
Once again, it’s going to be chilly in the morning — in the 40s and breezy as you leave for work — and while the sun will peek out here and there, today’s high won’t top 57.
So when can we expect it to be routinely warm in New York again?
It all depends on your definition of “warm.”
“From a meteorologist’s perspective, I think 70 is a great demarcation line for what we consider warm,” said John Homenuk at New York Metro Weather. “That’s when you can go outside and whether it’s cloudy or sunny, you can still be warm and comfortable.”
上記のerraticに加え、clothing-confusedもメモに価するとおもいました。
先生によりますと、混乱して、整理できない状態を表すI'm confused.という表現にclothingがついたものです。「何を着ていいのかわけわかんなくなっている」という日本語にぴったりです。このようにconfusedの前に混乱の対象となるものをくっつける言い回しはほかにもありそうです。調べてみます。
