“If you build it, he will come.”

NFL owners approve Raiders’ Vegas move

Invoking his father Al’s name, and copying what the Hall of Fame owner did with the Raiders, Mark Davis is moving the franchise out of Oakland.

NFL owners approved the Raiders’ move to Las Vegas 31-1 at the league meetings Monday. Miami was the lone dissenter.

“My father used to say the greatness of the Raiders is in the future,” Davis said. “This gives us the ability to achieve that.”

記事ではなくタイトル下(上記サイト内)の写真に注目すると、男性が掲げているカードに “If you build it, we won’t come.”
こちらの表現は1989年に公開されたField of Dreamsという映画のフレーズである、 “If you build it, he will come.”

The lead character hears a voice when walking through his corn field which says "If you build it, he will come". Later he sees a vision of a baseball field. He builds the field and Shoeless Joe Jackson, a long dead professional baseball player, turns up and asks to play catch.

The quote as been adapted into a business setting and often means, if you build something people will come to use (and pay for) it.

(Gomez)
