　気になった表現はsnakeです。名詞で考えると「蛇」がまず浮かびますが、この記事では動詞で用いられています。細長く、くねくねとした蛇の姿を想像すると、なんとなく意味が想像できます。『ライトハウス英和辞典』（第5版　研究社）でsnakeの項目を見てみると、自動詞で「（副詞句を伴って）（文語）（川、道、列車などが）（蛇のように）くねくねと動く、蛇行する（across, past, through）」とありました。記事の本文からは、90人ほどの人々の列が蛇行して伸びている様子が伺えます。
　LDOCEには “if a river, road, train, or line snakes somewhere, it moves in long twisting curves” と定義されています。
　またsnakeに関連して 、“a snake in the grass” で「味方を装った敵、信用できない人」という意味を表します。（『ライトハウス英和辞典』）。草の中に埋もれて見えない蛇を人に当てはめ、仲間の中に紛れ込んだ敵を表すようになったのではないかと思いました。ブログではsnakeを含んだ表現が過去にいくつか取り上げられております。（aqua）
