Toyosu market move decision likely affected by new toxic checks
More delays could be in store for the proposed relocation of Tokyo's world-famous Tsukiji fish market after fresh groundwater safety checks at the new site showed that the presence of toxic materials is far worse than realized.
The new site in Toyosu, Koto Ward, is about 2 kilometers from the Tsukiji market in Chuo Ward. It was formerly occupied by a Tokyo Gas Co. factory, and the move was initially scheduled for late last year.

今回注目した表現は、“be in store for”です。『ウィズダム英和辞典』(第３版、三省堂)で“store”の項目を引いたところ、“in store”で「〚〜 be〛〈驚き・難問などが〉«人を»待ち構えて、今にも起こりそうで«for»」とありました。
LDOCEでは、“if something unexpected such as a surprise or problem is in store for someone, it is about to happen to them”と定義されています。
“store”というと「備え、蓄え」などという意味があります。そこから、何かが控えている、待ち構えている、というように意味が生まれたのだと思われます。(Blue Sky)
