今回取り上げるのはcardiovascularです。

『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版、大修館書店）では医学用語で「心臓血管の、循環器の」とありました。
“cardio-“はギリシャ語が由来で「心臓の」を意味します。

この「心臓血管の病気」の症状として胸痛、動悸、息切れなどがあるようです。

また、“pulmonary”も医学用語で「肺の」を意味します。こちらはラテン語が語源だそうです。

この二つの単語が合わさると“cardiopulmonary”となり「心臓と肺の」を意味し、“cardiopulmonary resuscitation”で「心肺蘇生」を表します。(flyingbird)
