Core consumer prices drop 0.4% in Nov.

Core consumer prices in Japan, excluding volatile fresh food prices, in November fell 0.4 percent from a year earlier, going down for the ninth straight month, the government said Tuesday.

The decline in the core consumer price index reflected falling energy prices and slower hikes in food prices, the internal affairs ministry said.

中略

Prices of food, excluding perishables, went up 0.5 percent. But the pace of growth slowed from the previous month’s 0.6 percent, due in part to price cuts for donuts.

The Free Dictionary.com には, “items, especially foodstuffs, that are subject to decay or spoilage” と定義され, “placed the perishables in the freezer” という用例が挙げられていました。
