今回取り上げる表現は，“low-hanging fruit”です。そのまま直訳すると，「低い位置にぶら下がっている果物」となりますが，どのような意味でしょうか。これは，低い位置にある果物は，簡単に取り易いことから比ゆ的に「〔大きな努力をしなくても〕簡単に達成できる目標［目的・仕事］」や「容易に解決できる問題」という意味になります（英辞郎on the web）。さらに，Cambridge Dictionaryには，“something that can be achieved very easily”とあり，日本語の定義と差異はないようです。
また反意語として“high-hanging fruit”と言うのかなと思い，調べてみました。信ぴょう性は低いですが，Your Dictionaryに“Anything that is difficult to achieve, and which is put off while simpler alternatives are still available”と記載されていました。さらに使われている記事を見つけたので，下記にリンクを貼っておきます。(Nao)
