カナダのトルドー首相は，娯楽用の大麻を合法化すると公約していましたが，違法化する方針に変えたようです。非難の声が上がっていると記事にはあります。

今回取り上げる表現は，“lick one’s chops”です。以前，ブログに取り上げられていますが，意味は，『英辞郎on the web』によると，「舌なめずりする」となります。舌なめずりは，二つの意味があります。「うまそうな飲食物を前にしたときなどに，舌を出して唇をなめ回すこと」と「欲するものを熱心に待ち設けること」です。

さらに，Collins Dictionaryを引いてみると，“to anticipate with pleasure”と定義されていました。最後の文章には，「公務員は，マリファナ等の罰金で所属する部や省が大きくなることを待ち望んでいる」となるのではないでしょうか。(Nao)
