Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said on Monday he would visit Hawaii on Dec 26 and 27 for his final summit meeting with outgoing U.S. President Barack Obama, and to remember the victims of Japan’s Pearl Harbor attack 75 years ago.

“torpedo”を取り上げます。『ジーニアス英和辞典』によると「魚雷, 水雷, 空雷」「爆竹」とありました。LDOCEでは“a long narrow weapon that is fired under the surface of the sea and explodes when it hits something”と定義されています。調べてみると日本側の「雷撃機」は航空母艦6隻，戦艦2隻，重巡洋艦2隻，軽巡洋艦1隻，駆逐艦9隻，特殊潜航艇5隻，艦上航空機350機他があり、改めて多くの攻撃機が使用されていたことがわかりました。(lua)
