先日死去したキューバのカストロ前国家評議会議長を埋葬する儀式が執り行われました。

今回取り上げる表現は"inter"/ɪntˈɚː/という単語です。「インターハイ」などのインターという意味を思い浮かべましたがここではどのような意味で使われているのでしょうか。
そこで『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第５版）を調べてみると「〜を埋める、埋葬する」と記されており、また同時に Word Reference com も参照してみると"to place (a dead body) in a grave or tomb;bury."と定義されていました。
したがってここでは「キューバ独立運動の指導者であるホセ・ マルティの近くに埋葬された」と訳せると思われます。(Mt.Fuji)
