今年も渋谷はハロウィンイベントで盛り上がっているようです。

Anime characters, ghouls and beasts started filtering into the scramble crossing in front of JR Shibuya Station in Tokyo on Oct. 29 ahead of the monster bash on Halloween.
The Shibuya Ward government has set up changing rooms and temporary lavatories for the crowds of costumed revelers expected in the area in the days until Oct. 31.
Extra police officers have been dispatched to Shibuya to prevent accidents or other problems, while the Tokyo metropolitan government is distributing garbage bags resembling jack-o’-lanterns, a symbol of Halloween.
The Halloween crowd around Shibuya Station has grown larger year by year.

今回注目した表現は、“filter into”です。『ウィズダム英和辞典』(第３版、三省堂)を引いたところ、“filter + 副詞”で「〈人が〉だんだんと移動する、動く；流れる」とありました。後ろにくる副詞は方向の表現で、今回の記事では“into”がきています。フィルターを通して出てくる水などから連想して生まれた意味なのだと思います。
LDOCEでは、“if people filter somewhere, they move gradually to that place”とありました。
今回の“filter into the scramble”で、「渋谷のスクランブル交差点に流れ込む」といった解釈になるのではないかと思います。(Blue Sky)
