Shimizu has invented the world's first typhoon turbine. A robust, egg beater-shaped wind turbine, designed not only to withstand the incredible force of a tropical cyclone, but also to harness it.

今回取り上げる表現は “harness” です。これは英検プリントでも出てきましたが，名詞は「馬具」を意味し，動詞では「<水力などの自然力を>(動力源として)利用する」とありました（『リーダーズ英和中辞典』研究社）。

Merriam-Webster.comには “to put to work” と定義され, “Wind can be harnessed to generate power.” という例が挙げられています。

上記の辞典でさらに調べたところ, “in harness” では「勤務中」を表すなど, “harness” は多義語であることがわかりました。(Cayu)
