Honda launches new NSX sports car in Japan
Honda Motor Co. on Thursday started accepting orders for its new NSX sports car in Japan, a decade after production of the previous model ended, joining other automakers pinning hopes on sports cars to woo consumers.
The NSX, a hybrid car loaded with a 3.5 liter twin-turbocharged engine and three electric motors, goes on sale with a price tag of 23.7 million yen (about $236,000).
Honda said deliveries are expected from late February. The automaker aims to sell 100 units in the first year.

今回取り上げるのはwooです。『ライトハウス英和辞典』（第5版 研究社）で調べてみますと、「1（…）の支持を求める、（名誉、財産、支持など）を得ようと努める 2（古風）（女性）に求愛（求婚）する」という意味があることがわかりました。今回は１つ目の意味で用いられており、辞書の例文には “The candidate is wooing the voters.” 「あの候補者は有権者の支持を求めている。」とありました。LDOCEでは “to try to persuade someone to do something such as buy something from you, vote for you, or work for you - used in news reports” と説明されておりました。persuadeということばから、名誉や支持などを得るために相手を説得しようとするニュアンスを含んでいるようです。
