But Japanese visitors who spoke with The Japan Times reported no serious problems, with concerns over the mosquito-borne Zika virus also getting short shrift.

今回取り上げる表現は、 “get short shrift”です。
まず初めに “shrift”のみを『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版，大修館）で調べてみました。「（司祭に対する）懺悔，（懺悔による）赦罪，（懺悔に対して課す）苦行」などと載っておりました。
次に “get short shrift”をOxford Dictionary of English (Second Edition Reserved, Oxford University Press)で調べたところ、 “to get little attention or sympathy”と載っておりました。“give short shrift”として使用することも可能だそうです。
『ジーニアス英和辞典用例プラス対応』（大修館）には、「ほとんど注意[同情]を払われない，ほとんどかえり見られない」と記載されておりました。英国ではgetの代わりにreceiveを使う場合もあるようです。
以上をふまえ記事を読むと、ジカ熱などの問題はあまり気に留められていないことが分かります。
