少し前の記事ですがJT Onlineからの引用です。the Philliesを5-0で下したthe Marlins。イチロー選手も8回にヒットを放ち，メジャー通算3000本安打まであと3としました。
この試合イチロー選手は第一打席でホームラン性の打球を放ちましたが，これはthe Phillies のMarcell Ozuna選手の身体を張った好守備に阻まれました。記事ではこの「大飛球」をdeep driveと表現しています。driveには「〘スポーツ〙(テニスゴルフクリケットなどでボールの)強打」という意味があるからです（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）。

Marlins star edges closer to 3,000 MLB hits in win over Phils
MIAMI – Ichiro Suzuki’s 2,997th major league hit and his 507th stolen base sparked a four-run, eighth-inning rally as the Miami Marlins pulled away to a 5-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.
Making his first start since he went 2-for-5 on Thursday in Philadelphia, Ichiro was robbed of an extra-base hit in the first inning. Playing center field to give All-Star Marcell Ozuna a breather, Ichiro led off with a deep drive to right that was tracked down by Peter Bourjous, who crashed into the wall to make the catch and had to leave the game.
Ichiro was 0-for-3 before singling to left to open the eighth. Two pitches later, he got a huge jump and swiped his ninth bag of the year. He has been caught twice.
