This week’s festivities are taking place in Cleveland — next week’s will be in Philadelphia — but let’s not forget that the race features two New York residents going head-to-head.
And it’s the first time in 72 years that that has happened.
Of the nearly 2,500 delegates attending the Republican National Convention, there are 89 from New York who are pledged to Donald J. Trump.
They were chosen by our state’s party, the New York Republican State Committee, and not by Mr. Trump, according to Ballotpedia, an online encyclopedia of American politics and elections.
