英の財務大臣であるオズボーン氏が，もし英国がEUを離脱した場合，歳出を削減し，増税を行う必要があるという試算を報告しました。所得税や相続税が増税され，国民健康保険の歳出がカットされるという見積もりです。現状の世論では，離脱派が残留派を上回っておりますが，どちらに転ぶか世界中が注目していると思います。
記事の中で気になった単語は"untenable"です。『Wisdom英和辞典第三版』（三省堂）で調べると「<状況などが> 継続できない,<議論･考えなどが> (批判などに対して) 擁護[支持]できない, (攻撃から) 守れない」などという意味がありました。Oxford Dictionaries.comには"(Especially of a position or view) not able to be maintained or defended against attack or objection"と定義されております。"tenable"が"Able to be maintained or defended against attack or objection"を意味しており（Oxford Dictionaries.com），"tenable"に否定を表す接頭語の"un-"が付くことで，このような意味になるようです（Ume）。
EU referendum: Osborne warns of Brexit budget cuts
George Osborne says he will have to slash public spending and increase taxes in an emergency Budget to tackle a £30bn "black hole" if the UK votes to leave the European Union.
The chancellor will say this could include raising income and inheritance taxes and cutting the NHS budget.
But 57 Tory MPs have said his position would be "untenable" if he tries to cut NHS, police and school spending.
And Vote Leave criticised Remain's "hysterical prophecies of doom".
The UK votes on whether to remain in the EU or to leave on 23 June.
