ＳＮＳの米ツイッター共同創業者のジャック・ドーシー氏（３９）が初ツイートしてから、２１日で丸１０年となったようです。

As Twitter marks its 10th birthday Monday, it is somewhat of an awkward child—having become a powerful communication tool but still struggling to win users and reach profitability.

Since making a star-quality entrance a decade ago, Twitter has become a must-have tool for journalists, activists and celebrities but has struggled to show it can expand beyond its devoted “twitterati” to become a mainstream hit.

“twitterati” を取り上げます。"twitter" と "glitterati"が合わさった言葉だとわかりました。"glitterati"は『ジーニアス英和辞典』によるとイタリア語が由来で「華やかな生活を送る人々, 成功者, 有名人」とありました。これもglitter（きらびやかな）とliterati（学者，文学者；知識人）の合成語でした。Oxford dictionariesによると“Users of Twitter, especially those who post frequently and have a large number of followers”とありました。

フォロワーの多い有名なツイッターのことを指していう言葉だとわかりました。
因みに世界でフォロワー数が最も多いのは、米国女性ミュージシャンのケイティー・ペリーさんで、日本での１位はタレントの有吉弘行さんだそうです。(lua)
