SHIZUOKA—You might have to pay through the nose for these luxurious tissues, but the 10,000 yen ($83) price tag hasn’t stopped them becoming a surprise hit.

So says manufacturer Daishowa Paper Products Co.

The multi-colored facial tissues went on sale two years ago and are steadily selling nearly 80 boxes a month. Named “Junihitoe tissue paper” after a traditional costume worn by Japanese ladies of the court, the tissues come in the colors of the 12-layered “Junihitoe” robe.
