今回もSUSHI AND BEYONDから英語表現を採り上げます。引用箇所はChapter 16 Crabsの一節です。go easy onは過去にgo easy on your wallet（財布にやさしい）という意味で採り上げらえていますが，この表現にはその他に「【物話・題などを】控えめにする, 使い[食べ, 話し]すぎない」という意味があります（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）。本文は「ワサビを控えめにするように注文する」と解釈できます。（Koyamamoto）

We had had a few food battles with Emil and, in particular, Asger, but they were gradually becoming more open to new things, and we had successfully adhered to our strict, ‘no pizza or burgers’ principle. They had enjoyed tempra, and loved the ninja restaurant in Shinjuku which we had had to enter through a hidden door and over a glass drawbridge, and where the waiters performed magic tricks. They were also now genuine sushi enthusiasts to the extent where, left unsupervised, they could easily amass a sizeable tower of plates at a conveyor belt sushi joint.
