本日は、記事より"to one's name"を取り上げます。とても馴染みのある語、"name"ですが記事を読み進めていく中で意味が取れなかったため、調べてみました。
この表現は、通例否定文の中で用いて、「自分のものとして」との意味になります(『Wisdom英和辞典 第三版』) 。Oxford Dictionaries On-line にも"often with negative"との説明があり、否定文の中で用いることが多いことがわかります。

ただ、他の辞書を見てみると必ずしも否定文の中で使われるということはないようです。例えば、Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary (8th)には"an Olympic athlete with five gold medals to his name"と例文があり、"(have sth) to your name"で、"to have or own sth"と定義されています。
