映画「CHICAGO」からです。
Roxieの不倫相手であるFredが、自分はRoxieが働きたいと思っているクラブとコネがあると言っていたのは嘘だったと分かります。その時のRoxieとFredの会話から表現を取り上げます。

Fred: Face it, Roxie. You’re a two-bit talent with skinny legs. And I’m just a furniture salesman.
Roxie: Yeah, but you got connections, you know? That guy down at the club…
Fred: There is no guy.
Roxie: Yeah, that night--
Fred: It was the first time I set foot in that joint. I was collecting on a bet from the trombone player.
Roxie: S—so you never told anyone about me?

今回気になったのは“set foot in”です。単語から推測できてしまうかもしれませんが、「＜場所＞に足を踏み入れる」（『ジーニアス英和辞典第四版』大修館書店）、“to go to or enter a place”（LDOCE）という意味があります。Fredはコネがあるどころか、その話をした時に初めて店を訪れたといいます。（Green）
