見出しにもなっている"revolving door"を取り上げます。UG先生のAWの記事や本ブログでもすでに何度か取り上げられていたので復習になりますが、『ジーニアス英和辞典(大修館書店)』によるとも「(組織、職場などで)人が目まぐるしく変わること」とありました。
LDOCEで確認をしてみると、"used to say that people involved in the situation, organization etc change often"とあり、他にも"used to say that people return to a situation, position etc often, but usually for a different reason"とも定義されており、例文にもあったのですが、政府と民間企業の出入りを繰り返すことを指す表現でもあることがわかりました。(lua)
