Despite terror attacks close by, Japanese student will stay in Paris
A Japanese graduate student who lives in a Paris suburb that police raided in connection to last week’s terrorist attacks will stay in France, even though he said he was scared he might have been caught up in the trouble.
Junichiro Yasu told The Japan Times by phone on Thursday that he was shocked to find that police raided an apartment early Wednesday in the Saint-Denis suburb where he lives.
While the January attacks had more specific targets, he said, this time “people were attacked at public places like bars, and on the street. Honestly, I’m petrified that I could be caught up in an attack, too.” He added that there seems to be few Japanese living in his area.
