try O on for size
Police: Your story doesn’t wash, Mrs. Hart, so try this on for size. Fred Casely was a good time on the side with goofy here as a meal ticket.
Roxie: Meal ticket? He couldn’t buy my liquor.
Police: With a wife and five little Casely’s? Or did he forget to mention them?
Roxie: W—w—what?
気になったのは“try this on for size”です。 辞書には「<物・事が>適当か[気に入るか]試してみる」(『ジーニアス英和辞典第四版』大修館書店)、“put on a piece of clothing or test something to find out if it is the correct size or suitable”(LDOCE)とありました。 (Green)
