reveler 復習

東京都が「HALLOWEEN ＆ TOKYO」というキャンペーンを実施する予定です。

Tokyo city officials say they will give out garbage bags to revelers for Halloween celebrations at the end of October.

300,000 garbage bags have been printed with pumpkin ghosts to encourage people to take their garbage with them rather than discard it in the streets.

The bags will be distributed on October 30th and 31st at four locations including Shibuya and Roppongi, and at related events in Tokyo.

Last year, people in Halloween costumes crowded the area around Shibuya Station in central Tokyo. They left behind piles of garbage including pieces of costumes and food containers.

今回は“revelers”を取り上げます。
『ジーニアス英和大辞典』によると「お祭り騒ぎする人」とありました。LDOCEでは“someone who is having fun singing, dancing etc in a noisy way”とありました。イギリスではrevellerと綴るようです。

一度、渋谷の109で行われ、再び週末に六本木、新宿でも行われるそうです。袋にゴミがたまればよりjack-o'-lanternに見えるので面白いと思いました。(lua)
