incongruity

今年の司法試験で問題作成などを担当した明治大学法科大学院の教授が試験問題の内容を漏洩していた疑いがあることが明らかになりました。

The Justice Ministry’s National Bar Examination Commission (see below) on Tuesday accused a Meiji University graduate law school professor of violating the National Civil Service Law. The professor is suspected of divulging a question of this year’s national bar examination to one of his students. He was in charge of designing the question as a ministry-appointed examiner.

An examiner who graded her paper found it was suspicious that her score on this particular question was much higher than her scores on other questions and reported the incongruity to the ministry. The professor and the student apparently have admitted to the leak in an investigation by the ministry.

今回、取り上げるのは“incongruity”です。“incongruity”は「〔・・の/・・の間の〕不調和、不一致」とありました。「『ジーニアス英和辞典第4版』大修館書店」また、LDOCEには“the fact that something is strange, unusual, or unsuitable in a particular situation: ”と記されています。さらに語源を調べてみると“1530s, from French incongruité or directly from Medieval Latin incongruitas, from Latin ”とありラテン語由来であることが分かりました。

教授は漏洩を認める供述をしていますがいかなる理由があろうとも許されることではないと感じます。（faith）
