Abe to issue statement

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is poised to continue a war anniversary tradition undertaken by some of his predecessors. He'll issue a statement regarding Japan's role in World War Two and its progress since then.

Abe told senior members of his Liberal Democratic Party last Friday that he'll release the statement after it's approved by the Cabinet.
