New York Today: Morning Downpour

Good very wet Monday morning.

That’s the sound of a sunny weekend turning into a sloppy morning commute.

It’s raining. (Or it was, or it is about to be, depending on where you are.)

Nearly an inch of rain is predicted for the next couple of days, including potentially heavy rain today.

The heaviest period is expected to start just before the morning commute and to last through the early afternoon.

The rain will likely taper off after lunch, making for a puddled, but ultimately easier, evening commute, though some thunderstorms from 2 to 5 p.m. will help end your Monday with a bang.

But don’t leave the umbrella at the office: Tuesday the chances of rain top out around 30 percent, but showers and even a thunderstorm are still possible in the afternoon.
