ここでは “pose”を取り上げます（see also Lua's article ↓）。「ポ―ズを取る」という意味を思い浮かべますが、「〈人・事が〉O1〈人・事〉にO2〈危険など〉を引き起こす」(『ジーニアス英和辞典第4版』大修館)という意味で使われています。LODCEでは “to exist in a way that may cause a problem, danger, difficulty”とありました。「ほんのわずかな量（の毒）でも人間に危険を及ぼす」のように解釈できるでしょう。

猛毒を持っていると分かっていても、その美しい姿に魅了されてしまうのが人間の性のような気がします。私は昨年サンシャイン水族館で行われた猛毒展にてこのカエルを見ましたが、あまりに鮮やかな黄色だったためやはり見入ってしまいました。（Inaho）
