How ‘Kondo-ing’ my closet brought joy to my life

If tidying up were an Olympic sport, Marie Kondo would be a gold medalist. The organization expert is so famous that she’s often stopped on the street in her native Japan, where a TV movie has been made about her and there’s a three-month wait list for her services.

For Kondo, cleaning out your closet isn’t to be approached casually.
“Aim for perfection,” she urges in “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing,” a best seller in Japan, Europe and the US, where she has more than 1,400 reviews on Amazon, over 990 of which are five stars. “You will never get your house in order if you only clean up halfheartedly.”
