fetch #2

英英辞書にもto be sold for a particular amount of money, especially at a public sale(LDOCE)とあることから,fetchは単純に「売れる」ではなく,public sale(競売)で「値がつく」というニュアンスが強いことがわかります。(Koyamamoto)

News Navigator: Why have horse mackerel fish become so expensive?
The Mainichi Shimbun answers some common questions readers may have about the recent price increase of horse mackerel fish.
Question: What is the background of the price rise?
Answer: Horse mackerel is well-known as a fish that is eaten by ordinary people. Price increases have recently been seen, however -- with common horse mackerel fetching 400 to 600 yen per fish at some department stores. According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market, the wholesale price for one kilogram of common horse mackerel was around 500 yen in January or February of last year -- but was significantly higher around December and January of this year, when it had risen to 600 or 700 yen per kilogram.
