英和辞典に乗っていませんが、このdo-overは、相撲で言うところの「取り直し」に相当すると思います。『G5』（大修館書店）を引いてみますと、do overというPVの項に、「｟米｠…をやり直す」とありました。

『ケンブリッジ英英和辞典』（小学館）によると、“US to do something again because you did not do it well the first time”とありました。これなら、「取り直し」というニュアンスがはっきりと伝わると思います。 とoverの間にハイフンが入って名詞化しただけであると解釈した次第です。（Kawada）
