Now you’re cooking.

“Now you’re talking”に関連して、“Now You’re cooking(with gas).”という表現を見つけたので取り上げたいと思います。

『ジーニアス英和辞典第四版』(大修館書店)には載っていませんでしたが、『Wikitionary英語版』に“meaning that the subject has switched to a more suitable or more efficient approach”とありました。つまり「いい調子だね、よくなっているね、効率的だね」といった意味です。同辞書に例文も載っていたので引用したものを下に載せておきます。

Alice: ‘Why are you still using that old software? You should try out the new version.’
Bob: ‘Hey, this is really nice; much better than that crufty stuff we were using before.’
Alice: ‘Now you're cooking.’

ちなみに“Now You’re cooking(with gas).”は成句の“cooking with gas”からきているようです。『英辞郎on the web』には「スムーズに作動する」「（客・ミュージシャンなどが）すごく盛り上がっている、のっている」という意味で載っていました。1940年代、ガスが普及して薪よりもずっと楽に料理ができたことからこの言葉が生まれたそうです。
