タイトル：New Directions in FLES in Japan小学校英語教育における新たな方向性

要旨： One of the most controversial issues discussed in the recent report on the reform of English education in Japan concerns the lowering of the grade at which English should be introduced to grade three and the introduction of English as an official ‘subject’ from grade five. Although there has been much controversy surrounding this issue, in this talk, I will look at the results of data and discuss the rationale behind MEXT’s proposal. I will also look at the potential effects of CLIL as a model for future English education in Japan–from elementary
school to college.

要旨（和文）:
小学校英語教育の早期化と教科化に関しては様々な議論がある。本講演ではこの文科省の提言の背景をデータに基づき見ていく。小学校から大学までの将来の英語教育のモデルとして、CLIL（内容言語統合型学習）の可能性を探る。
