　フィリピンに巨大な台風が近づいております。1年前に発生した台風ハイエンにより多大な被害を及ぼしたという教訓から，今回は既に多くの国民が教会，学校，スポーツ施設等，作りがしっかりた施設へ避難しております。
　記事の中で気になった単語は"loot"です。『Wisdom英和辞典第三版』（三省堂）によると「を略奪する，（場所を）荒らす」などという意味がありました。「略奪する」という単語は他にも"pirate""foray"などが有ります。それぞれの意味をODで見てみると"loot""Private property taken from an enemy in war"，"pirate"" Use or reproduce (another’s work) for profit without permission, usually in contravention of patent or copyright"，"foray""A sudden attack or incursion into enemy territory, especially to obtain something"でした。"loot"は，戦争状態の中で個人の所有物を奪う，"pirate"は「海賊版」という日本語が有るように，特許や著作権を侵害する，"foray"は，「敵から略奪する」などという違いが有りました。
　ちなみにグーグルで「略奪する」と検索したらトップに来るサイトは・・・でした。ヒット数が多いものがトップにくるので需要があるのでしょう。（Ume）

Philippines Typhoon Hagupit evacuation stepped up

President Benigno Aquino, who met disaster agency chiefs on Friday afternoon, has ordered food supplies to be sent to affected areas, as well as troops and police officers to be deployed to prevent looting in the aftermath.

Local media reported Mr Aquino as saying there was "no indication" for now that Hagupit would be as strong as Haiyan.

Haiyan - known as Yolanda in the Philippines - was the most powerful typhoon ever recorded over land. It tore through the central Philippines in November 2013, leaving more than 7,000 dead or missing.

Hagupit's huge diameter of 600km (370 miles) meant that about 50 million people, or half the nation's population, were living in vulnerable areas, Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Soliman told AFP news agency.
