今回の記事は、50周年を迎えた、ヴェラザノ・ナローズ・ブリッジという橋についてです。今回の表現“Legend has it that~”は辞書で調べてみると、「伝説によれば〜」（『ジーニアス英和辞典第四版』大修館）とありました。Fiveさんが少し触れてくれたように、“Rumor has it that~”で、「〜といううわさがある」（『ジーニアス英和辞典第四版』大修館）という似た表現があります。この表現を知らないとなかなか使うことができないと思うので、こういった表現もどんどん学んでいきたいと思います。（Green）

A myth has surrounded the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge — which celebrates its 50th birthday today — since it first linked Brooklyn and Staten Island.
Legend has it that bridge crossings were to be free once the span was paid for.
No evidence can be located that such a promise was ever made, our colleague Vivian Yee writes this morning.
