学生自らが校内でお店を経営し、食事を提供している大学があるそうです。2011年、千葉県のある大学では、学生に店の経営を学んでもらうためそのようなプログラムを開始しました。
今回の記事で気になったのは見出しにある”entrepreneurship”です。復習程度の単語かもしれませんが、「ジーニアス英和辞典第４版（大修館書店）」によると、これはentrepreneur「起業家、事業家」の名詞形であり、「起業家であること、起業家としての活動」という意味があります。”taste of entrepreneurship”で「起業家としての就業体験」と訳せると思います。また、記事には形容詞の”entrepreneurial”も出てきています。どうやらフランス語から来た単語のようです。発音も要チェックです。
先生や生徒の要望を聞きながら作っていて人気のお店のようです。今後はこのような学生主体の学食が増えるのかもしれません。(bookmark)
Students get taste of entrepreneurship at university food courts
More and more eateries at university food courts have been opened by students and alumni who have capitalized on familiar surroundings to start their own business.
A private university in Chiba Prefecture has begun a program for its students to learn management at its food courts, while one alum of a private university in Tokyo was offered a job by a public corporation that was impressed by his management of a dining establishment on campus.
Chiba University of Commerce in Ichikawa introduced a program in 2011 to allow its students to open restaurants at one of its three food courts. Each “student venture restaurant” is equipped with a kitchen and a counter. There are currently three such eateries.
In spring last year, Takuya Beni, a 22-year-old junior in the university’s commerce and economics department, opened a restaurant called Beni that serves Western cuisine. The restaurant’s main dishes, which include hamburger steak and an omelette filled with fried rice, have attracted many students.
