lush

(bookmark)

Mt. Fuji, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has been re-created in Lego blocks, with vivid colors used for its snow-capped peak and lush greenery that spreads down to the foot of the miniature mountain.

Besides Mt. Fuji, nine other Japanese World Heritage sites, including Itsukushima Shrine, have been re-created with the blocks and are on display at the Chofu Parco to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the opening of the store in western Tokyo.

In an effort to familiarize people with World Heritage sites, an executive committee comprising LEGO Japan Ltd. and other companies has been organizing exhibitions at various locations in this country since 2003.
For the exhibition, about 450,000 blocks were used to create 40 miniatures representing World Heritage sites in 27 countries. They will be on display until Tuesday. Admission is free.
