New York Today: September Heat
Good morning on this sweatsock-like Tuesday.
Summer, it appears, has awakened from its summer-long slumber.
After months of strangely moderate temperatures, we are on Day 3 of a whole week in the oven: seven days in a row with highs of 85 or above.
The last time that happened was July 2013.
And today stands a good chance of being the hottest day all summer, with a forecast high of 92 — so far it
hasn’t topped 91 — under mostly sunny skies.
A shower might pass through after dark to cool things down, but not by much. Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday will all be sunny with highs around 86.
Even worse, it’s after Labor Day, so you can’t wear white.
So wear something small and black.
