記事の中で気になった単語は"dissuade"です。『Wisdom英和辞典第三版（三省堂）』によると「Aを説得してB[…すること]を思いとどまらせる」などという意味がありました。ODには"Persuade (someone) not to take a particular course of action"とあります。"persuade"との違いを見ると"Induce (someone) to do something through reasoning or argument"とあり，"dissuade"は，「良くない行動を思いとどまらせる」というニュアンスがあるのに対して，"persuade"は「説得をしてしむける」という感じが伝わります。
