　odd eating contestという大会の結果が発表されました。これは，動物たちがいかに変なものを食べたかを競うという大会です。大会当初は，靴下を43束食べたグレートデーンが優勝間違いなしと言われておりましたが，30個の小さな宝石を食べたカエルと，ケバブの串を食べた犬に敗れ惜しくも3位になりました。

But the sock-eating Great Dane, from Portland in the US, did take third place and won $500 (£305) for the veterinary surgery who treated him back in February.

Dr Ashley Magee, of DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital, was the vet who operated on the dog.

According to Shawna Harch, spokeswoman for the hospital, it's perhaps the strangest case in the surgery's history.

The contest, sponsored by the US vet magazine Veterinary Practice News, awarded $1,500 (£910) to the frog and $1,000 (£610) to the dog with the kebab stick.

Other notable mentions in the magazine include a dog that ate a bra and a bearded dragon (named Dragon) that ate a small plastic banana toy.

Another dog ate 105 coins - that's 104 pennies and a quarter (25c), totalling $1.29 (79p).
