no match for

英英辞書にも"someone who is much stronger, cleverer etc than their opponents"(LDOCE)とありました。 (Koyamamoto)

Hagino: I was no match for Park
GOLD COAST, Australia—After coming in second in the men’s 400-meter freestyle at last summer’s world championships, Kosuke Hagino was disappointed with another silver despite facing the top-ranked swimmer in the event.
The second-place finish on Saturday gave Hagino his fourth medal of the Pan Pacific Championships in Australia. It was his eighth race over the first three days of the competition.
“At international competitions, the pace [of overseas athletes] is fast, even from the heats,” was what Hagino came to grips with early on.
But South Korea’s Park Tae Hwan, the London Olympic silver medalist in the event, was just too strong, winning in 3 minutes 43.15 seconds. Halfway through the race, Park was ahead by a body length, finishing the race more than a second ahead of Hagino, who posted a time of 3:44.56.
“I was no match [for Park],” Hagino said, acknowledging the utter defeat.
Despite falling short in the race, his labor seemed to bear some fruits.
