出張の前にもうひとつアップしておきます。

昨日のカメルーン代表は，グループA第２節でクロアチア代表と対戦し、０−４と大敗しましたが，アディショナルタイムにベヌワ・アス＝エコト選手が同僚のベンジャミン・ムカンジョに頭突き（head-butt）を喰らわしたことが大きく報道されました。

Cameroon coach Volker Finke said he will find out why Benoit Assou-Ekotto headbutted team-mate Benjamin Moukandjo during the 4-0 defeat by Croatia.

The pair began arguing in their own area in stoppage time before the QPR player thrust his head at the forward.

"It's unimaginable. I saw this happen and I need to find out exactly what happened, why exactly these two players exploded," he said.

"I hate to see that. It's not the image of Cameroon I want to project."

The incident almost continued in the tunnel, but injured striker Samuel

Eto'o, who watched the match from the sidelines, stepped in the way of Assou-Ekotto.

Cameroon's second defeat in Brazil eliminates them from the tournament and means the African side have now failed to reach the second round of the World Cup in their last five attempts.

この記事でふと思ったのが，選手の控え室とピッチとを結ぶあの通路。ここではtunnelと表現されています。

Websterには"a covered passageway; specifically :  a horizontal passageway through or under an obstruction"とあります。

トンネルと聞くと，個人的かもしれませんが，どうも鉄道や自動車道にあるトンネルのイメージに頭が固定されて，競技場などの地下通路に瞬時に結びつかない，いやむしろ別の言い方があるのかなとの妄想にとらわれていました。"a passage that goes under the ground"（Webster），まさにそうですね。競技場の通路もtunnelと言うんだと改めて脳内辞書を書きかえた次第です。

tunnelに関係はありませんが，この出来事を伝えた某ネットのカメルーン代表監督 Finke氏のコメントの訳，どうにかならないでしょうかね（原文は青字）。（UG）
